PCAB workshops

This two-day course discusses key sections of PCAB’s standards for sterile and non-sterile compounding and how they ensure compliance with USP General Chapter <795> Nonsterile Preparations, USP General Chapter <797> Sterile Preparations, and USP General Chapter <800> Hazardous Drugs – Handling in Healthcare Settings. The course will describe the scope of PCAB’s compounding standards and identify the responsibilities of compounders, outline the criteria for component selection, and describe facility requirements for sterile and nonsterile compounding. In addition, the course will outline dispensing and quality assurance and control requirements.

Who should attend?

Since July 2018 we have worked diligently to produce the course in an Australian context, with the aim to deliver the most relevant information to Australian compounding pharmacists.

You should attend the PCAB workshop if:

·        You are an owner of a compounding pharmacy

·        You are the chief pharmacist of a compounding pharmacy

·        You are a hospital pharmacist

·        You are the regulatory affairs office for a compounding pharmacy

·        You are a pharmacist looking to enter the pharmaceutical compounding space

The latest Pharmacy Board of Australia guidelines regarding compounding (found here) discuss the current requirements for compounders, as well as heralding a clear direction toward further regulation.

Participants of the PCAB Workshop will be able to delineate themselves from their competitors with a clear market advantage after adopting USP 795 and 797 procedures in their practice.
